About SpeakWell

Who is SpeakWell for?
SpeakWell is for adults who are learning English and want to feel more confident speaking in everyday situations — for example answering the telephone, shopping or visiting the doctor.
Do I need to speak English well already?
No. Our current group course is designed for A1 beginners who want to practise basic everyday conversations. You just need to be ready to try.
How do I know which English level is right for me?
You can try SpeakWell's free English Level Check. It is an informal guide to help you get started, not a formal CEFR assessment.
Can I try a free lesson before enrolling?
Yes. Our free interactive lessons are available any time, with no enrolment and no payment.

Live Online Classes

How are the classes delivered?
Classes are live online through Zoom, in a small group with Jane. Every lesson includes friendly speaking warm-ups, useful everyday expressions, listening and pronunciation practice, guided conversations and supportive feedback.
How many learners are in each class?
A maximum of five learners, so everyone has opportunities to speak and ask questions.
What will I practise during the lessons?
Simple, everyday English conversations — greetings, asking and answering questions, the telephone, shopping, visiting the doctor, appointments, directions and everyday routines.
Do I need Zoom?
Yes. You'll need a device with internet access, audio and a microphone. We'll provide the joining instructions after enrolment.
Are the classes recorded?
Recordings are not currently promised as part of the course. Please plan to attend the live sessions.
What happens if I miss a lesson?
You can continue attending subsequent classes, but individual make-up lessons and refunds for missed sessions are not guaranteed. Please see the full enrolment terms.
